Detailed Itinerary
Experience the very best of Uganda and Rwanda on one remarkable safari. From the powerful Murchison Falls and thrilling wildlife encounters to unforgettable gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, this adventure offers memories that will last a lifetime.
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe & Kampala City Tour
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide and transferred to your hotel.
If time permits, enjoy a guided tour of Kampala, Uganda’s vibrant capital city. Visit some of its most iconic attractions, including Kabaka’s Palace, Kabaka’s Lake, the Uganda Museum, Nakasero Market, the Bahá’í Temple, local craft markets, and other cultural landmarks that offer insight into Uganda’s rich heritage.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After an early breakfast, depart Kampala and drive northwest toward Murchison Falls National Park.
En route, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exciting guided rhino tracking experience on foot—the only place in Uganda where wild rhinos can be seen.
After lunch in Masindi, continue into Uganda’s largest national park. Before heading to your lodge, visit the spectacular Top of Murchison Falls, where the River Nile forces its way through a narrow seven-metre gorge before crashing dramatically below.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive & Nile Boat Cruise
Begin the day with an early morning game drive across the northern savannah plains.
Look out for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, hartebeests, lions, hyenas, and, with luck, elusive leopards.
Return to the lodge for breakfast before enjoying lunch and an unforgettable afternoon boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls.
The riverbanks are alive with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and an incredible variety of birdlife including African fish eagles and kingfishers.

Day 4: Scenic Drive to Fort Portal
After breakfast, journey southwest through the beautiful Albertine Rift Valley.
Travel via Hoima to Fort Portal, one of Uganda’s most picturesque towns nestled beneath the legendary Rwenzori Mountains, famously known as the “Mountains of the Moon.”
Enjoy scenic countryside views, tea plantations, crater lakes, and rural villages along the route.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park & Kazinga Channel Cruise
Following breakfast, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Enjoy wildlife sightings as you enter the park before checking into your lodge.
Later in the afternoon, embark on the famous Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise.
This natural channel connecting Lake Edward and Lake George supports one of Africa’s highest concentrations of hippos alongside elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and hundreds of bird species.
Finish the day with an evening game drive before returning to your lodge.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Tree-Climbing Lions
Start the morning with a guided chimpanzee trekking adventure in Kyambura Gorge.
Often referred to as the “Valley of Apes,” this lush forest gorge is home to habituated chimpanzees as well as several monkey species and abundant birdlife.
After lunch, continue to the Ishasha Sector, famous worldwide for its rare tree-climbing lions.
Enjoy a game drive in search of these remarkable predators resting high in fig trees while also spotting elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and numerous bird species.

Day 7: Cross into Rwanda
After breakfast, depart Uganda and travel through the beautiful highlands toward Rwanda.
Cross the border before continuing to Ruhengeri (Musanze), gateway to Volcanoes National Park.
Enjoy spectacular scenery of rolling hills, terraced farms, and volcanic landscapes that have earned Rwanda its nickname, “The Land of a Thousand Hills.”

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today is the highlight of your safari.
After an early breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for registration and a ranger briefing.
Begin your unforgettable trek through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes in search of one of Rwanda’s habituated mountain gorilla families.
Once located, spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
Following this once-in-a-lifetime experience, return to your lodge before beginning your journey back toward Uganda for your overnight stay.
